{"id":7869,"date":"2014-03-20T15:37:11","date_gmt":"2014-03-20T23:37:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aksalmonalliance.org\/staging1\/?p=7869"},"modified":"2014-03-20T15:37:11","modified_gmt":"2014-03-20T23:37:11","slug":"reconsideration-on-bof-setnet-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aksalmonalliance.org\/staging1\/2014\/03\/20\/reconsideration-on-bof-setnet-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Reconsideration on BOF setnet changes?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Cook Inlet fishermen ask BOF to reconsider setnet changes<\/h1>\n<div>By Molly Dischner<\/div>\n<div>Published: <time datetime=\"2014-03-20 11:38\">2014.03.20 11:38 AM<\/time><\/div>\n<p>Cook Inlet fishermen submitted emergency petitions to the Board of Fisheries this morning asking for changes to the setnet regulations altered in February.<\/p>\n<p>The board passed several changes to Upper Cook Inlet fisheries management during a two-week meeting last month.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adfg.alaska.gov\/static\/regulations\/regprocess\/fisheriesboard\/pdfs\/2013-2014\/statewide\/rcs\/rc068_KPFA_Emergency_Petition.pdf\">Kenai Peninsula Fishermen\u2019s Association petition<\/a>\u00a0asks the board to amend or remove the language that will restrict the east side setnet fishery.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adfg.alaska.gov\/static\/regulations\/regprocess\/fisheriesboard\/pdfs\/2013-2014\/statewide\/rcs\/rc069_SOKI_Emergency_Petition.pdf\">South KBeach Independent Fishermen\u2019s Association petition<\/a>\u00a0asks for reconsideration of the shorter nets the board tried to implement. That group also submitted a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adfg.alaska.gov\/static\/regulations\/regprocess\/fisheriesboard\/pdfs\/2013-2014\/statewide\/rcs\/rc069_SOKI_Emergency_Petition.pdf\">second petition<\/a> noting how different salmon harvests are at different setnet sites and beaches.<\/p>\n<p><em>Due to copyright law, the Alaska Salmon Alliance cannot repost full articles.
